Located on the western side of Edmonton is the mature, well-established neighbourhood of McQueen. The community was named after the Reverend David G. McQueen who served as Edmonton's First Presbyterian Church minister from 1887 to 1930. There are a number of important landmarks that are easily accessible from McQueen including Coronation Park and the Telus World of Science (formerly the Edmonton Space and Science Center) in the neighbouring community of Woodcroft.

Coronation Arena, a lawn bowling facility, and a small football stadium are located nearby and excellent venues for families who prefer a more active lifestyle. Additionally, the Peter Hemingway Fitness and Leisure Centre is located nearby. If you enjoy mall shopping, the Westmount Centre is located a short distance east of McQueen on 111 Ave which borders the neighbourhood on the northern side. Additional boundaries of the community include 142 Street to the east, 107 Ave. to the south, and 149 Street to the west. There is also a small strip centre in McQueen’s southwestern corner.
The residences of McQueen are almost an equal split with 51% of the residences being owner-occupied and 49% being rental properties. It is a stable neighbourhood and it’s desirability is reflected in that nearly 54% of the residents having lived there for 5 years or longer. Parents with children have a choice of 4 schools in McQueen – Archbishop McDonald and Edmonton Christian High Schools, Edmonton Christian West School, and Edmonton Menorah Academy. The closest public high school is Ross Shepard which is located in the adjacent community of Woodcroft and administered by the Edmonton Public School Board.
